McGraw Hill Helper is built around supported Connect and SmartBook question pages. Agent builds on that browser automation for a wider set of supported coursework workflows, including linked-source context and written responses. It is a separate extension, not a replacement you must switch to.
| What you need | McGraw Hill Helper | SolveX Agent |
|---|---|---|
| Main workflow | Page-aware help for supported McGraw Hill Connect and SmartBook questions. | Supported browser activities, source notes and written responses, with visible progress and review controls. |
| Source context | The supported question and its available page context. Paid Snap Solver can analyze a selected question region. | Available instructions, linked readings, video summaries or transcripts, and visible images. Missing material still needs to be supplied or reviewed. |
| Access | Helper plans and the Helper Day Pass. Snap requires active paid access. | An Agent Day or Weekly Pass, or an eligible activated paid-Helper welcome trial. Allowances and expiry are separate. |
| Installation | The McGraw Hill Helper extension and its own account connection. | The SolveX Agent Chrome extension, connected to the same SolveX account. |
| Compatibility | Supported Connect and SmartBook page layouts and question formats. | Compatibility is in beta and varies by school, page and activity. A listed platform does not mean every workflow is supported. |
If your work is mainly supported Connect or SmartBook questions, you can keep using McGraw Hill Helper. You do not need an Agent purchase to preserve your existing Helper access. The Helper install guide and pricing page remain the place to check that product’s setup and access options.
Snap Solver is also part of the Helper offering for paid users. It works with a selected question region on compatible websites or browser PDFs; it is not the same workflow as handing Agent an open activity with linked sources.
Agent is useful when the task involves more than one question field: reading the instructions, following available source links, drafting a response, or working through supported activity controls. Recent actions, source notes and recovery drafts can stay with the same open attempt.
Start in Review first to inspect the prepared work. Full access can follow submission steps for a selected activity and check for a receipt or equivalent completed page. Neither mode guarantees that an answer is right or that every page interaction will succeed. Stop remains available if the workflow goes off track.
Sign in with the same SolveX account for both products. Helper access and Agent passes remain separate: a Helper allowance is not automatically an Agent allowance, and an Agent pass does not replace your Helper plan.
The Agent welcome trial is for eligible accounts with current paid McGraw Hill Helper access, once per account. Its clock starts when you activate it, with a finite allowance and no automatic renewal. New customers can choose an available Agent pass without buying Helper first. Your Agent account shows current eligibility, remaining usage and expiry.
The interactive demo on the Agent page shows sample question, matching and written-response workflows. Every action is simulated. Demo saves and receipts are examples, not activity in a school account.
Use the setup guide to connect the real extension when you are ready. Review your course rules and the specific activity’s requirements; platform compatibility and permitted assistance are separate questions.
