McGraw Hill Connect Not Working? A Student Troubleshooting Guide
When Connect stops loading or refuses to submit, the safest first move is to preserve evidence. Take a screenshot that includes the error, assignment name, clock, and due time. Do not repeatedly click Submit while the page is frozen; wait to see whether the first request completes.
Next, decide whether the problem affects only one assignment or the whole site. Open the course home in a fresh tab. If the course opens but one activity fails, the issue may be that activity's availability, attempt limit, or publisher content. If nothing opens, check the browser, network, and account steps below.
1. Protect the work already on screen
Copy any typed response into a local note if the field allows it. Photograph or screenshot calculation work. If a submission is spinning, give it a short chance to finish before refreshing. A timestamped screenshot helps your instructor or support team distinguish a technical failure from a late start.
2. Check the assignment rules
A closed due window, exhausted attempt limit, instructor restriction, or required prerequisite can look like a technical problem. Return to the course assignment list and read the availability dates, attempt count, and any message beside the activity.
3. Test a clean browser session
Close unused tabs, then try the current version of Chrome in a normal window. If the course works in an Incognito window, cached site data or an extension conflict is likely. Incognito disables many extensions by default, so this is a diagnostic step rather than a permanent fix.
Allow cookies and pop-ups required by your school's sign-in flow.
Disable content blockers for the Connect page temporarily and reload.
Clear site data for the affected McGraw Hill domain only before clearing the whole browser.
Turn off a VPN or restrictive campus network long enough to test another trusted connection.
4. Separate a Connect problem from a SolveX problem
First confirm that the assignment works with SolveX paused. If the original question page loads and accepts manual input, reconnect SolveX and try one-question mode. If only one interaction type fails, record the question format and page behavior rather than treating the whole extension as offline.
5. Escalate with details support can use
Send the course name, assignment title, exact time, browser version, visible error text, and steps that reproduce the problem. Do not send your password or full access token. For a deadline issue, contact the instructor as well because only the course owner can reopen an attempt or change an availability window.
SolveX is a study aid for homework, practice, and self-review. It is not for use on proctored or supervised exams, or where your course does not permit outside assistance — check your syllabus.
